Apart from the information, which has appeard in the Press, I have been fortunate enough to obtain, by personal interviews, much direct information from eye-witnesses of the wholesale butcheries and cruelties prepetrated against the people of the Oasis. Having satisfied myself that these terrible things really occurred, my next care was to enquire into the immediate causes of them. How and why did they happen? That these massacres and other barbarities actually happened there is no room to doubt, in spite of the offical denials and explanations of the Italian Government.
