First published in 1905, this volume contains the findings of the British expedition to North Africa undertaken a year earlier. Essentially it is a study of the Berber Tribes of that region, particularly concerning their supposed connection with the people of ancient Egypt. However, a great deal of information on the general anthropology of the Berbers is included, and the work is also important for its study of the every day life and customs of the tribes ingenious to the area. This includes the social organisation, architecture, industry, housing and ceremonial life. The work here reproduced in Facsimile, incorprates a large number of photographs, many of ancient monuments now destroyed.
